Stephanie A. Georgek, 46, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 23, 1965, in DuBois, a daughter of the late John E. Rieg Sr. and Cloyann (Frease) Rieg Hurd.

Sept. 23, 1989, she married Mark K. Georgek, who survives.

Mrs. Georgek was a controller at Hardware Specialties in DuBois for 11 years.

She attended St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in DuBois.
She was active in the protection of animals, and she enjoyed cooking and crafting, her family and spending time at home. She also loved going to Myrtle Beach, S.C.

In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include survived two brothers, John E. Rieg of Sykesville, and David M. Rieg and wife Lisa of Brookville; her step-father, Walter Hurd of Punxsutawney; two step-brothers, Randy Hurd of Marion Center, and Rick Hurd and wife Jill of Gaithersburg, Md.; and a step-sister, Wendy Depp and husband Doug of Punxsutawney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two step-brothers, Richie Hurd and Wally “Buddy” Hurd.

There will be no public visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, DuBois, with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant.

Burial will follow in Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Gateway Humane Society, 1211 Airport Rd., Falls Creek, Pa. 15840.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Goble Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois.
