Stanley E. Piekielek, 79, Punxsutawney, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born May 20, 1931, in DeLancey, a son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Pogwizd) Piekielek.

July 14, 1979, he married Shirley Edmondson, who survives.

Mr. Piekielek was a member of St. Adrian Roman Catholic Church, where he was an usher. He also delivered Meals on Wheels.

He was retired from North American Carbon Company.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include several nieces and nephews, including William Piekielek and wife Kirsten; John Piekielek, Daniel Piekielek, Mary Roberts and husband James, Paul Piekielek and wife Connie, Judy Kash, Paula Conrad and husband Dick, Laura Baranoski, Ron Baranoski, Kevin Baranoski, and James Piekielek and wife Kelley; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother; three additional brothers, Joseph, John and Frank Piekielek; and two sisters, Mary Piekielek and Pauline Baranoski.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011, at St. Adrian Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will follow at the Adrian-Anita Roman Catholic Cemetery.
