The students at SS.C.D. Elementary School held their annual Run/Walk for Someone Special, through which they raised $1,214 to be donated to the Run/Walk event scheduled for Sunday in Sykesville.

Patricia Murdock, SS.C.D. second-grade teacher, said the entire school earned a pizza party by raising more than $1,000.

Murdock said over the past several years, SS.C.D. has raised more than $10,000.

Pictured are a few of the students running and walking around the gymnasium, where the event was held because of the weather.

All money raised goes to the Arc of Clearfield and Jefferson Counties.

Registration for Sunday's Run/Walk is at 1:30 p.m. at the Sykesville Town Hall.
