SS.C.D. lights up Mulberry Square For Make-A-Wish

The SS.C.D. School's children's choir performed for the residents of Mulberry Square in Punxsutawney live on WPXZ radio during the Make-A-Wish Light Up A Child's Life campaign Wednesday. Jessica Newcome, SS.C.D. principal, said the students have held five separate fundraisers for Make-A-Wish "dress down" days which included: Pajama day, sports team day, camouflage day for hunting season and crazy hat day. She said the students also held "penny war days" which was won by the sixth graders, who will receive a pizza party as their reward. She said they don't have a total amount raised because they are still collecting money at their Christmas program that will be held tonight. The total amount raised for Make-A-Wish as of 4 p.m. Wednesday is $16,270.43 which is four wishes, with the average cost per wish $3,900. Make-A-Wish will be broadcasting today at 7 a.m. from the Punxsutawney Area Middle School and at 8 a.m. Punxsutawney Area High School and then the Pantall Hotel from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donors can make a donation by stopping by any remote location or by calling 877-284-9474.
