PUNXSUTAWNEY— Perhaps the hardest thing for a wife and mother to do is to learn that her husband has been in a horrible accident. Even more terrifying is hearing that the accident has left him in such a state
that he has to be flown to a hospital for treatment.

For Crystal Wooten, that nightmare became a reality on March 10, when her husband, Dustin, was in a ATV accident near Glen Campbell.

Dustin was flown via helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital with head and brain injuries.

For the last week, Dustin has been doing better, but doctors say he is still not out of the woods yet and has a long road to recovery.

The Wooten family currently resides on Synder Hill, and Dustin works at Huey Brothers Inc. in Glen Campbell.

He is described as a loving husband who has been married for eight years and is the father of three young children — Clayton, 6, Savannah, 2, and Montana, a year old.

"He's a great guy and a loving father," said family friend Tracy Quick.
According to Quick, Dustin is an outdoors type of guy who enjoys hunting, fishing and riding ATVs.

Quick and some friends are putting together a spaghetti dinner in hopes of raising money for the Wooten family.

"We are doing this to help his wife, who is juggling work, three kids and taking care of her husband," said Quick.

Crystal, who works at Biggie’s Quality Meats in Big Run, has been making a lot of trips to Pittsburgh to be by her husband’s side.

"They are taking it one day at a time," said Quick.

Money from the benefit will go toward medical bills and transportation. Quick is asking for donations of money, baskets and desserts for the benefit.

The dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Big Run War Memorial in Big Run.

Dinner prices are $5 per person, with children 3 and under eating for free. A basket raffle will follow at 7 p.m., with tickets being sold three for $1 and 15 for $5.

Donations can made by contacting Quick at (724) 549-5342 or Kim Minich at (724) 397-4092 or (814) 592-3362.
