Sonja H. Berryhill, 76, Big Run, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

She was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Henry
and Violet P. (Hoel) Horrell.

On Feb. 1, 1964, she married Thomas R. Berryhill, who survives.

She was Protestant by faith.

She was a teller and an assistant manager at the National City Bank in Big Run for 23 years and retired on June 15, 1994.

She was a member of the Big Run Betas, Eastern Star of Somerset for 55 years and a lifetime member of the PSU Alumni Association.

She enjoyed attending the Penn State University football games for more than 35 years, bingo, bowling, trips to Salamanca and Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, spending time with her family and just enjoying people.

In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include a daughter, Heidi B. Howser and husband Scott of Herndon, Va.; a brother, Henry H. Horrell of Johnstown; and three grandchildren, Jack, Alec and Elyse Howser.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Judy Horrell.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Nagle officiating.

Interment will be at McClure Cemetery, Big Run.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made, in memory of Sonja, to the Alzheimer’s Association, Christ the King Manor, or to DRMC Hospice.
