PUNXSUTAWNEY — Prep Baseball Report recently released the Class of 2015's state player rankings, and local product Ryan Sloniger, who caught for the Chucks in 2012, was the top-ranked catcher and the No. 16 overall player in the standings.

In addition to his service with the Chucks, Sloniger plays for the Evoshield Canes — a program that works with recruits, especially from North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland and Virginia — in the summer.

He played in the Perfect Game World Wood Bat championship tournament in Marietta, Ga. this summer and earned All-Tournament team honors after hitting .400 with an OPS of 1.008 over the course of the week. The Perfect Game tournament had 108 teams. He has also played at James Madison University, Millersville University and Old Dominium this summer and has been invited to attend the Perfect Game Underclassmen World Championship in Ft. Myers, Fl. this fall.

Ryan has compiled a .439 batting average through 26 games with a 1.070 OPS for the Canes this summer. He leads the team with 26 runs batted in.

Through the high school season for the Chucks, he hit .377 with an OPS of 1.070 and added 15 RBIs as a freshman.

Prep Baseball Report promotes high school baseball and its players in Indiana, Illinios, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
