Shirley J. Ewing, 83, Hamilton, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

Mrs. Ewing was born September 11, 1928, in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ralph and Mildred (Crawford) Hicks.

March 8, 1946, she married Ronald E. Ewing, who preceded her in death April 20, 2006.

Mrs. Ewing was a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Trade City and also a member of the Grange.

Surviving relatives include a son, Roger D. Ewing and wife Susan of Punxsutawney; a daughter, Donna Jean McKee and husband Gary Sr. of Coral Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren, Mark Ewing, Rebecca Petrini and Gary McKee; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Allen "Bud" Hicks and wife Brenda of Trade City, Paul Hicks and wife Doris of Marion Center, and Owen "Butch" Hicks and wife Susan of Colorado; two sisters, Joann Ritter and husband Michael of Erie and Carol Flowers and husband David of Emporium; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ray E. Ewing; and a grandson, Matthew Scott Ewing.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

Additional viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Trade City, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Maureen Seifried officiating.

Interment will follow at North Point Cemetery.
