Senior Alexa Shaffer presented Mary Jean Johnston of the Weather Discovery Center with a check for $ 989.21. She was approached by her mentor, Sue Walher, who came up with the idea of selling food at the Music in the Park event. The event runs every summer from July 12th through Aug. 23rd. As part of her project, she set up a refreshments table where everyone could purchase slices of Laska's pizza, soda and water. The project was a success, with $989.21 being raised and donated to the Weather Discovery Center. Every year, a senior raises money from the Music in the Park event and donates it to the Weather Discovery Center.
