BROOKVILLE — The weather wasn't quite perfect, with permanent gray skies above, but Punxsy boys' track and field was glad to compete in a meet without having to battle snow Saturday at the Brookville Invitational.
Last Tuesday, the Chucks competed in the snow during their dual meet at Brookville.

Punxsy coach John Smith said that he was happy with some of the individual performances his team finished with. No team score was kept.
"We came away with some good performances on a cool, windy day," Smith said. "All day we hoped for a warm-up (in temperature) that never came."
Punxsy's A.J. Meterko was the Chucks top finisher as he grabbed a second place finish in the 800-meter run (2:00.5).

"An outstanding time for this early in the year," Smith said. "He was nipped at the finish line by Cranberry's Morgan Huegel."

Brody Morgan picked up a third place finish in the javelin (156-1). Kevin Byars placed fifth in the long jump (19-7) and triple jump (41-3). Two Punxsy relay teams also placed.

The 4x800 relay, consisting of Tom Wagner, Quinton Weber, Derick Kelly and Luke Fugate, placed seventh (9:09). The 4x400 relay team, consisting of Wagner, Meterko, Kelly and Ward placed eighth (3:44).
