Sean D. McConnaughey, 18, Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, in Armstrong County.

He was born June 3, 1993, in Punxsutawney, the son of Brian and Dotti L. (McConnaughey) Gaffney, who survive, of Punxsutawney.

He was a 2011 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and a member of SS. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church.

He was employed by Proform Powdered Metals.

Sean loved skateboarding, swimming and his friends. A loving son, brother, grandson and true friend, he will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, surviving relatives include four brothers, Benjamin McConnaughey, Brett Gaffney, Alex Gaffney and Andrew Neal, all of Punxsutawney; his maternal grandparents, Dave and Mary Lou McConnaughey of Punxsutawney; his paternal grandparents, Madalyn Couser and husband Dyrk of Punxsutawney; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Gaffney; and two uncles, Benjamin McConnaughey and David McConnaughey.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at SS. Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as celebrant.

Private interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank, which was Sean's senior project.
