A cupcake parade was held recently at the Punxsutawney Memorial Library as a part of Screen-Free Week.

Local organizations held indoor and outdoor activities for children, in the hopes of giving them the opportunity to be more active.

The purpose of Screen-Free Week was to get kids away from televisions, computers and iPad screens — a mission that lasts far beyond one week a year.

Pictured here is 6-year-old Rayven Welch (left), as she decorates a paper cupcake alongside Jennifer Soliday, children's activities director of the library.

The library is just one of many local groups offering screen-free fun year-round.
