Sarah Straitiff, 86, Brookville, formerly of Coolspring, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at Jefferson Manor, Brookville.

She was born July 6, 1925, in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late George and Anna M. (Updyke) Geer.

She was married to Leonard E. Straitiff, who preceded her in death Feb. 13, 2003.

Mrs. Straitiff was employed as an assembly worker at Sylvania in Brookville, and she also worked for the Brookville Glove Company.

She was a member of the Brookville Senior Citizens and the Coolspring United Methodist Church, where she had previously served as church treasurer.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Marilyn McGinnis and husband Ed of Punxsutawney and Shirley Miller and husband Kenneth of Mercer; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard E. Straitiff; 17 brothers; and a sister.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Garvey officiating.
