Sara D. Fox, 75, of Big Run, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie.

She was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Rossiter, a daughter of the late Hiriam and Mary Rebecca (Cressley) White.

On June 1, 1957, she married Charles Leroy Fox. He survives.

She was a member of the First Church of God in Punxsutawney.

Sara was a very patriotic, service-oriented person and had previously been active in many community and church events, such as the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 9044, Big Run Peeper Banquet, the Living Christmas at church, the Big Run Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and many other activities.

She was a warm, enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing woman.

Always generous, she had a big heart and a smile on her face, in spite of her many health issues.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Russell Fox and wife Lisa of Big Run and Mike Fox and wife Penny of Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren, Scott Fox and wife Christine of Big Run, Kris Fox of Big Run and Skylar Fox of Punxsutawney; a great-granddaughter, Lyndsay Fox; and a brother, William White of DuBois.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Greg Smith.

Interment will follow at McClure Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Sara's memory to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 9044 or to the First Church of God.
