Samuel W. Dinger, Sr., 70, of Brookville, (Stanton), died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at home.

He was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Ervin E. and Mary (Steiner) Dinger.

On Aug. 4, 1961, he married the former Judith M. Depp, who survives.
He attended the Stanton United Methodist Church.

Mr. Dinger worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include six children, Samuel W. Dinger, Jr. of Cape Coral, Fla., Steven Dinger and wife Denece of Summerville, Scott Dinger of Brookville, Shawn Dinger
and wife Danielle of Brookville, Janet Guthrie and husband John of Brookville, and Joyce Stewart and husband Vern of Brookville; 11 grandchildren, Kerry Swineford, Kelly Stauser, Tawn and Tera Dinger, Wyatt and Spencer Long, and Jocelyne, Joel, Hogan, Alyssa and Isabell Dinger; two great-grandchildren, Jaxson Strauser and Skyelar Barr; four sisters, Violet Morse of Wenanan, N.J., Marybel Dunn of Chalfont, Pa., Lois Mennetti of Oliveburg, and Claire Walker of Henderson, Nev; and four brothers, Byron Dinger of Brookville, John Dinger of Punxsutawney, Richard Dinger of Brooklawn, N.J., and Wayne Dinger of Sarasota, Fla.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Allen Dinger; and a sister, Verna Bish.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Stanton United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Roger Howard.
Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery, Frostburg.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Stanton United Methodist Church building fund, 189 Stanton Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
