PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” On the heels of a very disappointing Red Kettle Campaign at Christmastime, the Punxsutawney Salvation Army is looking to rebound during its Red Shield Campaign and the annual golf tournament.
Capt. Keith Jache, co-commander of the Punxsutawney Salvation Army, said that the corps ended up about $12,000 short of the goal for the kettles.
"The Red Shield Campaign is the second biggest fundraiser that we do," he said. "We're hoping to make $15,000, which is my budget goal, but if we can make up for the kettles falling short and make $30,000, that would be beneficial to us to continuing our programming."
