Ruth Sowers Jeffries, 99, Brookville, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Jefferson Manor.

She was born Sept. 10, 1912, in Brookville, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Sarvey) Cummings.

She was married to Ralph F. Sowers, who preceded her in death May 19, 1981.

She then married Homer Jeffries, who preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1996.

Mrs. Jeffries was a homemaker and formerly worked with her family at Sowers Appliance Store in Brookville.

She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville, where she was a Sunday School teacher and active in church affairs.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Patricia Sowers Sanford and husband Bernard of Ringgold, and Margaret “Peg” Smith and husband Donald of Corning, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sally Huth; two brothers; three sisters; four step-brothers; and a step-sister.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold Township.
