Ruth Snyder Fiscus, 82

Ruth Snyder Fiscus, 82, a longtime resident of Brookville, passed away peacefully at the Laurel Brook Assisted Living Facility on Dec. 18, 2012.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1930, in Ringgold, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Maurice W. and Veda G. (McGaughey) Snyder.

She worked for 18 years at the Truckstops of America, where she made many friends throughout the years and attended the Immaculate Conception and St. Dominic Catholic churches.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, cooking and canning.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Francis Jerome Fiscus; 7 children, Karen Ann (Rick) Christy of Osage City, Kan., Francis W. “Bill” (Diane Shovestull) Fiscus of Sigel Pa., Susan M. Field of Brookville, Alice J. (Ted) Rhea of Bells, Tenn., Jerri L. (Terry) Venable of Skiatook, Okla., Janet L. (Butch) Loy of Sigel, Pa., and Freda L. (Dane) Lance of Emlenton, Pa; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by one sister, Mildred Adams of Punxsutawney; and two brothers, Darrell Snyder of Reynoldsville and Burl Snyder of Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ethel Campbell; three brothers, Harold Snyder, Marlin Snyder and Dewey Snyder; and one granddaughter, Tamara S. Rhea.

Friends may call at the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William Laska officiating, and interment will be held at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Brookville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 231 Allegheny Blvd-Suite B, Brookville PA, 15825 and placed in memory of Ruth (Snyder) Fiscus.
