Ruth M. (McAninch) Hartzfeld, 70, DuBois, died Monday, June 13, 2011, at the DuBois Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

She was born May 21, 1941, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Glenn W. and Ruth Elizabeth (Walls) McAninch.

In 1967, she married J. Allen Hartzfeld, who preceded her in death in 2003.

Mrs. Hartzfeld was a graduate of Sykesville-Henderson High School. She was born and raised in the R.D. 3 Punxsutawney area and came to DuBois in 1962.

She worked as a sales clerk in local retail stores and enjoyed crocheting, sewing and crafts.

Surviving relatives include three brothers, William G. McAninch and wife Betty of Mercer, Larry C. McAninch and wife Mary Kay of Treasure Lake, and Gary T. McAninch and wife Jean of DuBois; several nieces, nephews and a great-niece.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home, DuBois.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Lee officiating.

Interment will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the DuBois Nursing home or Hahne Cancer Center.
