Ruth L. McHenry-Coe, 95

Ruth L. McHenry-Coe, 95, formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away Dec. 9, 2011, at Lincoln Glen Nursing Home in San Jose, Calif.

She was born Oct. 14, 1916, in North Point, a daughter of the late Aubrey Gould and Lucy Marie (Cassiday) McHenry. She was the second of seven children.

She married Robert Coe, who preceded her in death in 1996.

Mrs. McHenry-Coe served in the Navy in World War II.

She later graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in public health. She worked most of her life as a public health analyst in Long Beach, Calif. For the past 15 years, she lived in San Jose to be near her remaining sister, Jean.

Surviving relatives include her sister Jean Beatty of San Jose, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews; a step-daughter Sally Kirsch of Cocoa, Fla., three step-granddaughters; and a step great-granddaughter.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Robert and Edgar; and two sisters, Effie Bloom and Mildred Trinkwalder.

Interment will take place in the San Jose area.

Memorial donations may made to the charity of the donor's choice, or to Habitat for Humanity, which was a cause Mrs. McHenry-Coe supported.
