Ruth L. (Martz) Pierce, 93, Brookville, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 4, 2012, at Laurelbrooke Assisted Living in Brookville.

She was born May 16, 1918, a daughter of the late W.E. and Alice Martz.

May 16, 1940, she married David M. Pierce, who preceded her in death April 5, 1999.

Mrs. Pierce was employed by the Brookville Sylvania plant for many years and was the bookkeeper for the Gateway Bowling Alley for a number of years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brookville and was active in the Ladies Helping Hand group. She loved to sew, crochet and work crossword puzzles, but her greatest love was to be with her family, especially her grandsons and their families.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Deanna Welton and husband David of Brookville; two grandsons, Dr. Randy Welton and wife Michelle of Dayton, Ohio, and Dale Welton and wife Elizabeth of Brookville; two great-grandchildren, Sean and Shannon Welton; three sisters, Faye Fleming of Georgia, Margaret Kennedy of Arizona, and Lois Henry of North Carolina; and three brothers, Keith Martz of Corsica, Kerry Martz of South Carolina, and Don Martz of Florida.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Martz, Fred Martz and Dale Martz; and a sister, Delores Wolfgang.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. David Borger officiating.

Interment will be at the Brookville Cemetery.
