Ruth E. Beck, 86, Punxsutawney, died on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at home.
She was born July 16, 1927, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Daniel and Isabel (Nicholson) Kromer.

She was married to the late Wayne B. Beck for 63 years and was a lifelong resident of Punxsutawney. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2009.

She loved gardening and being outdoors.

She worked for 19 years in the office of Dr. L.R. McCauley and for 11 years in the office of Dr. George Cherian. She was a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer for over 10 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Chervyl L. Hetrick and her husband, Frank, of Punxsutawney; two grandsons, Ryan and Sean; a brother, Jack, and his wife Ann of Covode; two sisters-in-law, Betty Kromer of Pittsburgh and Sally Kromer of Punxsutawney.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel, Harold and Donald Kromer; and a sister-in-law, Mary Kromer.

There will be no visitation or service.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

Interment will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

Donations or memorials may be made to the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ general fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
