Russell Emanuel “Speedy” Schantz Jr., 55

Russell Emanuel “Speedy” Schantz Jr., 55, of Reynoldsville, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at home.

He was born May 20, 1957, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Russell Emanuel Schantz, Sr., and Ethel “Skip” (Geist) Schantz.

His mother survives and resides in Punxsutawney.

Russ previously worked as a dozer operator for Yenzi Coal Company and Valier Coal Company.

He was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles.

He loved to go fishing.

In addition to his mother, surviving relatives include three brothers, Gary “Bear” Schantz, Charlie “Wally” Schantz and Harry “Bing” Schantz; and two nephews, Ed and Justin Schantz, all of Punxsutawney.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
