Ruby E. Powell, 68, Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Nov. 12, 1942, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Martin Vasbinder and Edna (Minich) Vasbinder-Burkett.

July 30, 1960, she married Clair J. Powell, Sr., of Punxsutawney, who survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Powell is survived by two sons, Clair "Joe" Powell Jr. and wife Lisa, and Timothy Powell and wife Bobbi Jo, all of Punxsutawney; two grandchildren, Cody Powell and Troy Powell; a sister, Dorrie Sheesley and husband Robert of Nevada; a brother, Alvie Vasbinder of Southington, Ohio.; special caregivers; Donna and Jim; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by two sisters, Luella Milliron and Elva Geist; four brothers, Melvin "Mike" Vasbinder, Harry Vasbinder, Todd Vasbinder and Orvis Doyle Vasbinder; and a step-sister, Emogene Burkett.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home with Pastor Kenneth Alt officiating.

Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.
