PUNXSUTAWNEY — Rossiter resident Lisa Campbell and her fiance didn’t expect to meet a future TV star on their summer vacation to Mexico.

But by what Campbell terms “just a fluke,” the duo did just that, encountering the unexpected.

While on a retreat at the Iberostar Paraiso del Mar resort in Rivera Maya, Campbell unsuspectingly struck up a casual conversation with a young woman accompanied by her father.

Little did Campbell know that her shoot-the-breeze companion, Lindsay Hill, would be a future contestant on season 15 of ABC’s television series “The Bachelor.”

Campbell said when Hill’s father explained that “something really cool just happened to her,” and revealed Hill’s acceptance on to the show after an extensive screening process, Campbell, who had watched the prime-time program in the past, said she refused to believe it.

After Hill’s father detailed his daughter’s difficult dilemma due to the TV competition’s conflicting with her first-grade teaching post, which the 25-year-old had just landed, however, Campbell began to believe the future “bachelorette.”

“We took pictures and we talked,” she said. “You just don’t ever know who you’re going to meet when you go away.”

Since the trip, the Tri-County Transportation employee has continued to keep in touch with Hill — who is from Plano, Texas — via e-mail, in addition to watching her compete on ABC’s reality dating series.

“When I watch her on TV it’s like, oh my God,” Campbell said. “It’s really cool.”

As of Monday’s episode, Hill was one of the remaining bachelorettes on the show, and even was among 11 contestants who received a rose from Brad Womack this season’s “Bachelor.”

While she knows the outcome of the show, Campbell said she won’t be revealing secrets.
