RoseAnn Sloniger, 72

RoseAnn Sloniger, 72, Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital. 

She was born April 9, 1940, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late James Salvaggio and Angelina (Peratto) Salvaggio.

Dec. 4, 1958, she married Thomas L. Sloniger, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sloniger was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Church.

She loved gardening, shopping trips and camping at Allegheny National Forest for family reunions, but most of all, she loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include two sons, James Sloniger and wife Sandra of Punxsutawney, and Thomas Sloniger Jr. and wife Dawn of Gibsonia; a daughter, JaneAnn McFarland and husband Bruce of Punxsutawney; a brother, William Williams and wife Jean of Punxsutawney; five grandchildren, Kara, Dylan, Mary and Ryan Sloniger and Morgan McFarland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Alice (Bruce) Salvaggio; a brother, McVey Williams Jr.; and a sister, Antoinette "Babe" Vanhorn.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Ss. Cosmas Damian & Church with the Rev. Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Sloniger's name to the St. Vincent DePaul Society or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
