Ronald L. Skinner Sr., 79, Home, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 30, 1931, in South Mahoning Township, a son of the late James and Velma Arlene (Johnston) Skinner Nelson.

He was married for 59 years to Violet J. (Foltz) Skinner, who survives.

Mr. Skinner was a graduate of Marion Center High School, the class of 1949; he served in the Korean War and was a corporal in the 25th Infantry Division.

He was a charter member of the Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church; he was a member of the Rural Valley American Legion; NRA; and had a lifetime membership in the Indiana VFW Post 1989.

Mr. Skinner retired from National Mine Service after 33 years of service.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter, Cathy J. Waugaman and husband William of Shelocta; a son, Ronald Skinner Jr. and wife Sharon of Punxsutawney; a sister, Naola Jane Fairman of Creekside; seven grandchildren, William Jr., Rebecca, Andrew, Megan, Nate, Katie, and Morgan; and two great-grandchildren, Jake and Luke.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana.

An additional hour of viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at the Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at the church with Pastor Douglas Snyder officiating.

Interment in the Gilgal Cemetery will be private.
