Ronald J. Vandervort, 68, Brookville, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at Brookville Hospital.

He was born June 26, 1944, in Brookville, a son of William Homer Vandervort and Rhoda Himes Vandervort.

Sept. 28, 1963, in Emerickville, Pa., he married Sandra Main, who survives.

Mr. Vandevort was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam Conflict from 1963-1967 on two vessels, the USS Champlain and the USS Independence.

He worked at Hawthorne Manufacturing in Hawthorne, Pa., Eljer in Ford City, Pa., and BevAir in Brookville.

He was a member of the Brookville First Church of God and the American Legion Post 102 in Brookville.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two daughters, Kim Walburn (Jeff) of Brookville and Gwen Vandervort of Tioga, Texas; a sister, Joan Lockwood of Alpharetta, Ga., a brother, Robert Vandervort (Judy) of Reynoldsville; a sister-in-law, Lucy Vandervort of Titusville, Pa.; and a grandson, Nathan Walburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, at Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville, Pa., with the Rev. Henry Scoff officiating.

Visitation will be at the time of the service.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the First Church of God in Brookville.

Interment will be at Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.

Arrangements are under the direction of the McKinney Funeral Home,
Brookville.
