Robert Lynn Frantz, 77

Robert Lynn Frantz, 77, Big Run, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born April 7, 1935, in Foxburg, a son of the late Edward Milton and Pheobe (Guthrie) Frantz.

July 8, 1961, he married the former Donna M. Kendall, who preceded him in death in February 2005.

Following the death of his wife, Mr. Frantz found a dear friend in Virginia Grace States, who became a traveling buddy, a caretaker and a faithful helping hand to the end.

Mr. Frantz was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was Union Carpenter with Local No. 947 in Pittsburgh. He also did excavating, hoses and owned many rental properties in the Big Run area.

He and his wife owned and operated the Donna Frantz Candy store in Big Run, and also Slender You in Big Run. He was a hard-working man who always had something to get done.

A jokester at heart, Mr. Frantz always had a good joke or story to tell. He was a country and bluegrass music enthusiast.

Bob and Virginia enjoyed traveling and camping, and driving the campgrounds in their miniature golf carts that were modeled after a 1932 Ford and a 1965 Mustang.

Surviving relatives include two sisters, Carol Adamczyk and husband Anthony of Big Run, and Dolores Delrosso and husband Anthony of Kansas; a brother, Russell Frantz and wife Roxanne of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Bill Guthrie and Millard, Chuck, Eddie, Jim and Paul Frantz; and three sisters, Emma Jean Lucky, Mabel Wajteck and Annabelle Painter.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Joseph Spack officiating.

Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Big Run.

Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Frantz's memory to the Punxsutawney Area Hospital, 81 Hillcrest Drive, Punxsutawney, Pa. 15767.
