Robert Leonard “Bud” Mangioni, 72

Robert Leonard “Bud” Mangioni, 72, of Big Run, died Friday, Aug, 10, 2012, at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born April 9, 1940, in Punxsutawney, one of 14 children of Leonard and Gladys (Campbell) Mangioni.

The love of his life and best friend was Elsie (Himes) Yeager, who preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 1992.

He enjoyed his family and grandchildren.

His grandchildren called him “a funny grandpa,” because, at 71 years old, he still did cartwheels and headstands at their birthday parties.

Bud enjoyed tinkering around with televisions and tractors.

He never met a person he considered a stranger, and he often started his conversation with a person by asking him or her, “Do you want to buy a dog?” even though he didn’t really have a dog to sell.

He was a humorous and friendly kind of guy.

He is survived by five children, Judy McManus and husband Allen, Amy Courson and husband Pete and Eugene Yeager and Cathy Shannon, all of Punxsutawney, Richard Yeager and Amy Frantz of Big Run, and Randy Yeager and wife Debbie of Punxsutawney; grandchildren Kelsie and Derik McManus, Kim and Mike Cortes, Jayde and Krystopher Yeager, Jananne Yeager, Thelma Shannon, Ashley Frantz, Bill Frantz and wife Bridget, Carrie and Marissa Mangioni, Johnny Shannon and Mr. and Mrs. Jason Shannon; great-grandchildren Jezabel and Matthew Frantz, Jazalyn Walters, Kieanna Aljoe, Chloe Shannon, Layla Brown, Lina and Grayson Cortes and Gavin and Deandrea Shannon; three brothers, Rick, Jofeth and Gaspes Mangioni; five sisters, Viola Huey and husband Elmer of Home, Janice Reesman and husband Vern of Smicksburg, Antoinette Collalo, Jofephine Chastko, Mary Chaftki; and a sister-in-law, Lavine Mangioni.

He was preceded in death by Elsie Yeager, Roger Yeager, Dominick, Richard and Frank Mangioni; twin sister Betty Kerr and husband George; and Lettie Mangioni.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Butch Brunner officiating.

Interment will follow at Ringgold Methodist Cemetery, Ringgold.
