Robert J. Shields, 83, of Rossiter, Indiana County, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, in his home.
He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Norma (Mains) Shields; father of Bobby Shields, Bill Shields, Linda (Matt) Messina and Albert Shields; grandfather of Michael Messina, Candace Shields, Nicholas Messina, Samantha Shields, Thomas Messina, Valerie Shields and Lisa Messina; brother of Teresa (Edward) Fitzroy, Kitty Pivirotto and the late Sarah Shields.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Bob proudly served as a Communications Technician 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He was retired from Schultheis Bros. after 42 years.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd., Roth Chapel, 7450 Saltsburg Rd. (at Universal Road), Penn Hills, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012.
Interment will follow at a later date in Restland Memorial Park.
