Robert Henry Rand, 69

Robert Henry Rand, 69, Saltsburg, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 24, 1943, in Fort Fairfield, Maine, a son of Floyd and Mary (Dishong) Rand.

Bob was an electrician and longtime employee of Don Huey Construction.

He had also previously worked as a coal miner for Lady Jane Collieries and Tunnelton Mines.

Bob was known as a hard worker who took pride in his work. He was known for his kind, loving and outgoing personality.

Bob was also a very patriotic individual.

His interests included music, reading about history and anything regarding trains, airplanes and mechanics.

Bob had lived in Rossiter from 1976 until 2008.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Christina (Amorose) Rand, whom he wed May 3, 2008; his children, Michael Rand of Kittanning, Matthew Rand of Indiana and Elisabeth Rand-Stearns of Lewisburg; his step-children, Steven Parson and wife Marcy of Harrisburg, Jacqueline Kopchick and husband Steve of Saltsburg, and Shelly Burrell and husband Donald of Avonmore; a sister, Katherine Gardiner of Forest Grove, Ore.; brothers David and wife Penelope of Washburn, Maine, Richard and wife Thelma of Presque Isle, Maine, and Stephen and wife Bonnie of Milwaukie, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding Robert in death were his parents, his first wife, JoAnn Grace (Hullihen) Rand, who passed away Feb. 23, 2007; and their son, Mark.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, in the Lefdahl Chapel with the Rev. Scot Pifer officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Big Run.
