Robert Edward Anderson Sr., 79, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, in Melbourne, Fla.

He was born April 17, 1932, in Greensburg, a son of the late Joseph and Bessie (Matthews) Anderson.

He was married to Mary Johnston Anderson, who survives.

Mr. Anderson was employed as a teacher for the Punxsutawney Area School District.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean conflict, and was a member of the Westmoreland Lodge No. 518 and Accepted Masons.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Punxsutawney.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two sons, Robert E. Anderson Jr. of Ulysses and Thomas N. Anderson of Melbourne, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, with the Rev. James N. Pond officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
