Robert Blaine Shields Sr., 71, Rochester Mills, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at DuBois Regional Medical Center in DuBois.

He was born Aug. 11, 1939, in Marion Center, a son of the late William Guy and Esther Alice (Salsgiver) Shields.

Mr. Shields served in the U.S. Army as an S4 during the Vietnam War.
He was a fabricator at Polyvision in Dixonville.

Surviving relatives include four sons, Robert Shields and wife Judy of Huntsville, Ala., George Shields of Punxsutawney, Cody Shields and wife Bethany of Grovetown, Ga., and Cory Shields and wife Ann of Aurora, Colo.; two daughters, Susan Cindric and Bonnie Wetzel, both of Rochester Mills; a brother, William Shields and wife Gina of Tuscon, Ariz., a sister, Jane Bennett and husband Henry of Rossiter; and four granddaughters, Stephanie Cindric, Faith Wetzel, Holly Wetzel and Sheridan Shields.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Shields and Sidney Shields; a sister, Esther Shields; and a grandson, Shiloh Behm.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011, at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Lewis officiating.

Interment will be at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.
