Robert “Dale” Walker, 79, of Main St., Troutville, Pa., died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Christ the King Manor.

Born on Feb. 21, 1935, in Troutville, he was the son of the late John H. and Elizabeth (Stuller) Walker.

On Oct. 6, 1979, he married Gwendolyn Ruth (Mack) Walker. She survives.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War. He served on the USS Severin and the USS Briarius.

Dale was a retired union mason.

He was a member of the Chestnut Grove Independent Church in Punxsutawney and enjoyed fishing and golfing.

He loved bowling and was a member of the Friday Sportsman League for many years. Dale was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.

He is survived by eight children, Robert D. Walker, Jr. of Canyon Lake, Texas, David A. Walker and John M. Walker, both of Troutville, Connie A. Walker of Reynoldsville, Jeffrey S. Lee of Sykesville, Krista A. Verne of Brockway, Vicki L. McGowan of DuBois, and Stephen E. Lee of Troutville; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his foster brother, Carl Walker.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at the Chestnut Grove Independent Church, with Pastor Joseph Spack officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church.

Interment will follow at Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery.
