Rita M. Cook, 81, Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at home.

She was born March 13, 1929, in Brockway, a daughter of the late Benjamin Fidler and Margaret (Archibald) Fidler.

June 10, 1950, she married Harry W. Cook, who preceded her in death Jan. 12, 2006.

She attended the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Cook was a graduate of Brockway High School; contributed to and enjoyed IUP football and her community.

She was a former beautician and she and her husband were the former owners of Jefferson Machine in Punxsutawney.

Surviving relatives include a sister, Phyllis Thompson of Knox; a brother, Jerry Fidler of Indiana; several nieces and nephews; and her good friends, Sandra Getch of Wexford and Shirley Anderson of Brockway.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by a sister, Vesta Glassner.

Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home with Pastor James Pond officiating.

Place of interment is Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.

The family has suggested that memorials be made in Mrs. Cook’s memory to the First United Methodist Church in Punxsutawney.
