Richard A. Garzoni, 87

Richard A. Garzoni, 87, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Eleanora, Pa., a son of the late Victor and Elva (Soliday) Garzoni.

On Nov. 22, 1946, he married Theresa V. Maruca, who survives.

He was owner and operator of Garzoni and Son Coal Company and Garzoni Excavating for many years and retired from Brocsious Trucking.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anita, Pa.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter, Vickie Urchuck and husband Ron of Falls Creek; a son, Richard “Dick” Garzoni and wife Mona of Anita; two sisters, Beatrice Brown and husband Michael of Florida, and Barbara Muth of Woodland; a brother, James Garzoni and wife Peggy of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Shawn Garzoni and Emily Urchuck; and a great-grandchild, Skyler Garzoni.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

As per the request of the family, visitation will be private.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will be at the Adrian-Anita Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

Memorial contributions, in Mr. Garzoni’s memory, may be made to the DuBois Area Catholic School or to the SS.C.D. School.
