Richard E. Heffner, 76, of DuBois, passed away, Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Heffner was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Washington Township, a son of the late Benjamin F. Heffner and Ruby Mae (Hartzfeld) Heffner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth A. Brady.

Mr. Heffner loved fishing with his great-grandchildren, hunting and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include a son, Richard F. Heffner and wife Nancy of DuBois; two daughters, Kathleen E. Manners and husband Orrie of Anita and Shari L. Ferguson and husband Scott of Michigan; two brothers, Ken Heffner and wife Barb and Raymond Heffner and wife Flossie, all of DuBois; three sisters, Edith Hearn and husband Robert of Texas, and Linda Henry and husband John and Gloria Frantz and husband Lloyd, all of Luthersburg; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey A. Heffner; a daughter, Debra D. Heffner-Toney; two grandsons; a great-grandson; and a great-granddaughter.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. James Fillhart officiating.

Private interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Luthersburg.
