Richard C. “Woody” Good, 68

July 5, 2011

Richard C. “Woody” Good, 68, Punxsutawney, formerly of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 20, 1942, in Dayton, a son of the late Laird Doyle and Audradee (Sloniger) Good.

May 12, 1973, he married Doris (Minnick) Good, who survives, his loving wife of 38 years.

For many years, Mr. Good was a log truck driver for Barrett Lumber, but most recently, before he retired, he worked for Aidin Contracting.
He had a wonderful eye for unique pieces when browsing antique stores and flea markets, and spent much time looking for special items to bring home.

Working outdoors was fun for Mr. Good, and he would spend hours tending to his garden. When not in the garden, he would build birdhouses to feed any lucky birds that happened to fly past his yard, or “rent” one of his birdhouses.

Snow did not keep him from being outside in the winter, as he loved shoveling snow. Mr. Good's family and friends will never forget his friendly nature — he would talk to everyone like he had known them his entire life.

Surviving relatives include four daughters, Robin Reesman and companion Matt Rearigh of Kittanning, Sue Knestrick and husband Ken of Dayton, Sherri Hatch and companion Dan Holley of Bradford, and Heidi Bussard and husband Matt of Summerville; eight grandchildren, Lisa, Lori, Todd, Janelle, Curtis, Cody, Aleesha and Kiley; six great-grandchildren, Abby, Alexa, Nathen, Janessa, Hunter and Gavin; a brother, Roy Good and wife Kathy of Ford City; and a sister, Shelvia Troup and husband Melvin of Dayton.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Good was preceded in death by an infant son, Duane Richard Good.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011, at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, Dayton.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at the funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Alt officiating.

Interment will take place in Dora Evangelical Cemetery, Ringgold Township.
