Reynoldsville man suffers major injuries in motorcycle accident

April 2, 2014

HENDERSON TOWNSHIP — A 47-year-old Reynoldsville man was transported to UPMC-Altoona via STAT MedEvac after sustaining what police called “major injury” in a motorcycle accident on Desire Road, near its intersection with Oak Drive, on Tuesday night.

Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police said the accident occurred as Arthur L. Hicks was traveling north on Desire Road and, for an unknown reason, applied a hard brake and lost control of his motorcycle — a 1975 Harley Davidson model.

The motorcycle impacted the paved asphalt surface and traveled down the roadway with Hicks pinned underneath.

Police added that Hicks was not wearing a helmet.

PSP was assisted at the scene by the Sykesville Fire Company, Big Run Fire Company, Sykesville Ambulance and STAT MedEvac.
