Raymond Frederick Dush, 77
Raymond Frederick Dush, 77, Brookville, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at his home.
He was born Feb. 20, 1935, in Brady Township, Clearfield County, a son of the late Pirl and Ella (Bailor) Dush.
Aug. 7, 1960, he married Dorothy (Jean) McCracken, who survives, at the Richardsville Baptist Church.
Mr. Dush had worked as a lumberman for his father, then as a rig foreman for Philips Petroleum until he was injured in 1963. He returned to school and graduated from Clarion State College in 1968 and began a career with the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation in DuBois, retiring with 30 years of service.
He spent his retirement working on his dream and opened Irons n Woods golf course in the spring of 2000. He and his wife, Jean, ran it until 2006, when family health concerns resulted in its closure. The golf course remains a place for the family to gather to keep the strong family bond with reunions, campfires and informal gatherings.
Mr. Dush enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, rarely missing any of their many high school or college sporting events.
He and wife Jean traveled the country and the world making sure they were there for all the important moments of their children’s and grandchildren’s lives. They visited England for the birth of a grandchild; Florida to watch baseball games; and New Mexico and Texas for the graduation of their children and grandchildren from their military endeavors.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Cris E. Dush and wife Traci, Rick L. Dush and friend Tracy, Cindy R. Hays and husband Jack and Diane R. Buck and husband Dave; grandchildren Jason, Ryan, Kirk, Garrett, Bryan, Jamie, Zack and Kirsten; a granddaughter-in-law, Jettie; and a sister, Jan Solada (Sheridan).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters, Clair Dush, Beulah Beam, Madge Gontero, Ted Dush, Jim Dush, Ethel Cogar, Arthur Dush, and infants Walter, Deloros Jean and Gretta Dush.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Phil Conklin presiding.
Interment will take place at the Riggs Cemetery, Warsaw Township, Jefferson County.
