Raymond E. Long, Sr., 85

Raymond E. Long, Sr., 85, of Anita, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2013.

He was born on June 19, 1927, in Anita, a son of the late Edwin Russell and Josephine Bernadine (Nelson) Long.

Mr. Long served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946, in Sanford, Fla.

On Jan. 24, 1947, he married Irene Felisky, who preceded him in death on July 2, 1978.

He then married Nancy Males on January 25, 1980; she also preceded him in death on April 8, 1991.

Mr. Long was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Punxsutawney.

He was an auto body repairman by trade, working for many years at the former Rubin’s garage in Punxsutawney, and later as an equipment painter at PennDOT until his retirement.

He also did auto body repair in his own garage in Anita for many years.

Mr. Long very much enjoyed spending time with his family and his two cats, Sophie and Seaweed.

He also enjoyed traveling, especially throughout the western portion of the United States.

He is survived by five children, Rita J. Greenblatt of Punxsutawney, Raymond E. Long, Jr. of Anita, George S. Long of Anita, Mary M. Paris and husband Jim of Anita and Robert M. Long of Anita; seven grandchildren, Raymond E. Long, III of Anita, Dannielle Travis and husband Joe of Reynoldsville, Jason Greenblatt and wife Lori of Punxsutawney, Brandy Spence and husband Josh of Reynoldsville, Josh Greenblatt and wife Mandy of Oliveburg, Aaron Greenblatt and wife Camie of Punxsutawney, and Dustin Long and wife Nicole of Punxsutawney; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Robert G. Long; and two sisters, Catherine “Boots” Parise and Margaret “Peg” Parise.

Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Long’s memory to the McCalmont Township Fire Company, PO Box, Anita, PA 15711.
