Randy Wayne Harp, 56

March 31, 2014

Randy Wayne Harp, 56, of Milford, Del., formerly of Punxsutawney, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, Del.

Randy was born in Punxsutawney, the son of Olive (Kiehl) Harp and the late Wayne Harp.

He was a graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School in 1975 and graduated from Clarion State College in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree of science in education.

In September of 1980, Randy married the love of his life, Beverly Susan
Hetrick.

In 1995, Randy continued with his education, receiving his master’s degree from Wilmington College in school leadership and instruction.

Randy worked as a teacher for the Milford School District for 23 years until becoming ill.

He was an active member of the Independent Bible Fellowship Church, serving as a deacon of the church, and was a member of the Milford Education Association and the Milford Lions Club.

In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers play, playing card games, doing a little gardening and yard work, but, most importantly, spending time with his family. He loved people and especially the kids.

The Lord had given him a calling to be a teacher, and his life was a testimony to his calling.

Randy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Beverly S. Harp; two sons, Joshua Wayne Harp and wife Jennifer of North Carolina and Andrew Donald Harp of Pennsylvania; grandchildren Logan Wayne Harp and Kyleigh Grace Harp; his mother, Olive Harp of Punxsutawney; a brother, Larry Harp of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Lu Ann Hetrick of Ohio and Judy Kennedy of Pennsylvania; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at Ohl United Methodist Church in Stanton, officiated by Pastor Roger Howard.

Interment will be at the Ohl Cemetery.

The family requests no flowers and prefers that memorial donations be made in Mr. Harp's memory to the Ohl United Methodist Church, the Summerville Library or the American Cancer Society.
