Ramona Kathryn McAninch Hilliard, 83
Ramona Kathryn McAninch Hilliard, 83, of Longview Road, Fairmount City, Redbank Township, Clarion County, died Monday, June 4, 2012, following a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 23, 1929, in Hawthorn, a daughter of Inez Neil and Henry Claude McAninch.
She was married Nov. 14, 1948, to Blair Hilliard, who preceded her in death May 2, 1986.
Mrs. Hilliard was a graduate of Hawthorn High School, a homemaker and had been employed at the G.C. Murphy Store in New Bethlehem. In her earlier years, she worked as a caregiver.
She was a member of the Hawthorn Presbyterian Church and had served the church as treasurer. She was a long-time member of the Hawthorn Fire Co. Auxiliary and the New Bethlehem American Legion Post 354.
Mrs. Hilliard did volunteer work for the American Cancer Society, served on the election board and helped locally in the Girls Scouts, as well as the PTO.
She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She also enjoyed painting and was an avid Steelers fan.
Surviving relatives include four daughters, Shirley Simpson and husband John of Punxsutawney, Sandy Barlett and husband Gary of New Bethlehem, LouAnn Hoerner and husband Tim of Bird-in-Hand, and Linda Adams and husband Kevin of Mayport; a son, Bill Hilliard and wife Peggy of Pittsburgh, as well as their children, Ben, Samantha and Natalie, and Natalie's daughter, Olivia; nine grandchildren, Keli and Kevin Simpson, Amy Wissing, Emily Hoerner, Chris and Danielle Barnett, Dustin, and Bob and Wendy Adams; five great-grandchildren, Molly and Luke Wissing, Taylor and Alyssa Simpson and Cadence Adams; and a sister, Jean Sidora of Cadogan; as well a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hilliard was eagerly looking forward to the birth of her sixth great-grandchild, Blair Raydon Adams.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Olive Kennemuth, Madge Kunselman, Eleanor "Toots" Klinger and Bessie McAninch; and six brothers, Herb, Bill, Blair, Ernest, Todd and Robert McAninch.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 and 9 today at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Z. Snyder, pastor of the Hawthorn Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment will be held at Hawthorn Cemetery.
