Ralph Hughey, 75

Ralph Hughey, 75, Marion Center, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh.

He was born July 7, 1935, in Eldred Township, a son of the late Carmen “Jack” Hughey and Mary (Reed) Orcutt.

He was married to Rita (Uplinger) Hughey, who survives, of Marion Center.

Mr. Hughey was a former East Mahoning Township roadmaster for many years. He was a dozer operator in earlier years and worked at the Marion Center Speedway for more than 30 years. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and being outdoors, and was a pashionate animal lover, especially cats.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter, Kelly Smith and husband Arthur of Rochester Mills; a brother, Donald Hughey and wife Janice of Summerville; three sisters, Nancy Hetrick of Rochester Mills, Virginia Ishman and husband Donald of Brookville, and Mona Henry and husband Dennis of Rossiter; three grandchildren, Mistie, Ken “K.G.” and Kyle; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Gage and Tobin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Clayton Hughey; his stepmother, LuLu Belle “Chub” Hughey, and stepfather, Charles Orcutt; and three brothers, Billy (infant), Gene Hughey and Ronald Orcutt.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Shannon officiating.

Interment to follow at Cedarview Memorial Park.
