Rachel M. Melillo, 80, Brookville, died, Friday, April 29, 2011, in Brookville.

She was born June 14, 1930, in Walston, a daughter of the late Ralph and Sarah (Chido) Cardamone.

June 11, 1955, in Walston, she married Eugene Melillo, who preceded her in death April 7, 1993.

Mrs. Melillo was a homemaker and special “Mommy Rae” and “Nana” to many children whom she lovingly cared for in her home for many years.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville, the Altar Rosary Society at the church and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Michael Melillo and wife Sandy of Lancaster, Ohio, and Matthew Melillo of Pittsburgh; three daughters, Regina Cherico and husband Rick of Brookville, Lisa Pascuzzo and husband Bob of Punxsutawney, and Anna Conrad of Brookville; a sister, Jean Travaglia of Forestville, Md., and a brother, Mario Cardamone and wife Dodo of Punxsutawney; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2011, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Brookville, with the Rev. William Laska officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rose Township.
