Quay E. States, 90, of Berlin Center, Ohio, formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Humility House Nursing Home in Austintown, Ohio.

Mr. States was born July 6, 1923, in Juneau, a son of the late Albert and Violet (Gaston) States.

He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" States.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Carol Champion of Chandler,
Ariz., and Donna Cook of N. Jackson, Ohio; two brothers, Jack
States and wife Susan of Tampa, Fla., and Dennis States and wife Linda of Hughesville, Pa.; two sisters, Betty Smith and husband Richard of Johnsonburg, Pa., and Patricia Gaston and husband Jack of Cloe, Pa.;
three grandchildren, Christa Hubbard and husband Wayne of Gilbert, Ariz., Tarryn Axtell and husband Sam of Queen Creek, Ariz., and
Elena Eaken and husband Shawn of Chesapeake, Va.; and great-grandchildren Landon and Lauren Axtell and Zachary and Isaac
Eaken.

Friends will be received at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney at 1 p.m. today; a service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Earl Flick officiating.

Private interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Rossiter.
