BROOKVILLE — Punxsutawney girls' track and field team had four girls place, including a first place finisher, at the Brookville Invitational Saturday.

Milea Schall took first place in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:53.8.

Punxsy coach Barry Young believes that consistency is Schall's best quality.

"Milea ran very well in the 3,200," Young said. "She is so consistent. As a coach, this is what you want from a runner. She came close to placing in the 1,600 with a fine time of 5:35.1."

No team score was kept at the event which featured 30 schools from the WPIAL, District VI, District IX and District X.

Nickita Martz also had a strong day for the Lady Chucks. She was the only girl from Punxsy to place in multiple events, finishing in fourth in the javelin (99-6) and sixth in the shot put (33-2 1/2). Her distance in the shot put was a personal best.

"Nicki had a great day," Young said, "She is steadily improving in the javelin."

The other Lady Chuck to place was Timi Shiock, who finished in third place in the high jump (4-8).

"It was a pleasant surprising seeing Timi take third place in the high jump," Young said. "She is also very consistent with her performances.
Young said that he was pleased with how the girls finished.

"As a team, I thought we performed well," Young said. "It's a huge invitation with 30 teams represented throughout the state. There were many girls who didn't place, but had good performances."
