Punxsy Sports Hall of Fame welcomes Bruce Chambers

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Bruce Chambers is a posthumous inductee into the Punxsutawney Sports Hall of Fame.

Chambers, a 1969 graduate of PAHS, was an All-State football player, playing linebacker and fullback. He lettered his sophomore, junior and senior years. He also lettered in track, throwing the discus and shot put. He also played basketball and other sports.

He was a Zeedick Cup award winner and obtained a scholarship to Virginia Military Institute. He earned a degree in civil engineering.

The 11th induction banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Punxsutawney Area High School cafeteria. Other inductees are Gary Astorino, Dominic “Mickey” Barilar, Roger Raybuck, Bill Vassallo and George Work.

The keynote speaker for the evening will be Les Shoop.
