CURWENSVILLE — The Chucks no sooner stepped off the bus before they started to pelt the Tide net with goals. Punxsy netted four goals in the opening 12 minutes to post its second-straight boys' soccer shut out with a 5-0 victory at Curwensville Tuesday afternoon.

Senior forward Trevor Peace produced a 'hat trick' with the final three Punxsy (7-3) scores. Ty Zimmerman produced a goal and an assist.

Tanner Evans accounted for the other goal.

Kevin Hughes assisted on the game's first two goals, and Tyler Baer passed the ball for the fourth tally.

"It was a good game with great execution as well," noted Chucks' coach Phil Shenkle. "The guys played hard."

The Chucks controlled the ball from the start and quickly moved down the field with three passes before Evans connected on a shot from Hughes just 22 seconds into the match.

Curwensville was barely able to get its collective breath when Punxsy put a second score on the board.

Hughes found Ty Zimmerman on more great Chucks' ball movement two-and-a-half minutes later to make it, 2-0.

Trevor Peace took over the scoring with two goals in the next nine minutes.

With seven-and-a-half minutes ticked off the clock, Peace boot his first goal off a Zimmerman pass.

Baer hit the ball to Peace four minutes later to complete the four goals in 12 minutes for a 4-0 advantage.

In the 47th minute, Peace made it a "hat trick" with an unassisted score for what would set a 5-0 final.

"Curwensville did a good job of having an offensive trap against us that held us back," pointed out Shenkle. "Our defense played great. We kept things manageable due to our fullbacks and midfielders controlling the ball."

The Chucks win completes the regular season sweep of the Tide after taking a 7-2 decision in Punxsy on Sept. 6.

Punxsy will stay on the road for a noon contest at Elk County Catholic on Saturday.
